It's been a few years now for this iteration of my track. Like all good things, it has come to an end. I am switching scales to HO. As you could tell on page one of this blog, I started with AFX back in 1974 with a Rolls Royce/Model A race track combined with the Drag Race package. It was quite a set and I have never seen one since - let me know if you see one on ebay, would love to see that box cover again.

Here you see a small assortment of NOS AFX stuff. This always brings back great memories of that hobby shop on 15th and Lonsdale in North Vancouver. Right next to Nickel's Bakery. I can still recall the smell of those fresh baked glazed and jelly donuts. Maybe that's why my hobbies have lasted as long as they have. Oh, I am also only chasing down MoPar Thunderjet 500 new releases. Of all the styles, those ones seem to be most to my liking. You can also see a Willies in there - very fun. I am a sucker for the "chrome" finishes. Notice the "Revamatic Sound" grandstands. Named after Peter Revson back in 1974.

The set below is a rarity - a Peter Revson "Racemaster Challenger" set issued prior to his untimely death in 1974. The story goes that Aurora pulled all the sets and those few that got out had a white label that contained a picture of Jackie Stewart placed over Revson's picture. This set is one that was sold prior to that happening. As such, it is rare. Not sure if rare means worth a lot of money but I sure like it. If you have pictures of other Peter Revson sets, send me a snap and I will post it here. Generally speaking, the artwork of the AFX sets captured a lot of our imagination back in the day. Still does.

So, it's time to go back to HO for the next little while. Down came the 1/32 track (there was no way to save it, trust me) and up goes my temporary sectional track while I wait for my final decision on some 4 or 6-lane track. It will be a plastic construstion track, not wood. Stay tuned for a new beginning in HO... It should be fun!

Don't worry, everything you see here is temporary...the controllers will have fancy new driver's stations and I wil return to my nice Parmas too. Here's a hint of things yet to be installed:
